The Progressive Hebridean Distillers
Founded in 1881 on the shores of Loch Indaal, Bruichladdich has always been known for innovation and independence. The Victorian distillery was built using cutting-edge technology of its time, including concrete fermentation vessels that were revolutionary for the 1880s.
After closing in 1994, Bruichladdich was resurrected in 2001 by a group of private investors led by Mark Reynier and master distiller Jim McEwan. This renaissance period established Bruichladdich as "The Progressive Hebridean Distillers," known for experimental cask finishes and transparency in production.
In 2012, French luxury group Rémy Cointreau acquired the distillery, providing resources for expansion while maintaining the innovative spirit. Today, Bruichladdich produces three distinct ranges: the unpeated Bruichladdich, heavily peated Port Charlotte, and the super-heavily peated Octomore series.
